Life Experience:

I have lived  in Rural Canton for nearly 40 years. I represented the voters by serving on the Canton School Board for over 15 years before earning your vote to serve in the SD House of Representatives where I have humbly served for 8 years.

My wife Darcy and I have 3 sons, 3 wonderful daughters in law and 6 grandchildren (the best job in the world) We have been married 34 years.

Darcy and I served as 4-H leaders for over 15 years and I served for 5 years on the Lincoln County 4-H Executive Board. I really enjoyed  volunteering as the announcer for the Lincoln County Achievement Days Swine Show and meeting all the kids and families.. Our oldest son Jason is fully engaged in agriculture, farming, cattle feed lot and swine confinements. His wife  Daneen manages Laura's Lattes in Canton. Our middle son Todd owns the Riverview Christmas Tree Farm, operates a seed company and also farms. His wife Shari owns Krave Branding, a successful design and advertising company in Sioux Falls. Our youngest son is a full time firefighter in Billings Montana, as a  member of the Montana Air Guard he is an Air Force Medic, Aerospace Medical Service Specialist and Paramedic. His wife Jennifer is a social worker at a large Billings hospital. We are so proud of all of them.

Darcy has her own company, Prairie View Prevention Services, and is an Addiction Counselor working with only juveniles  and their families for the past 25 years.

In my early career years, from 1974 to 1992, I was a systems analyst and eventually managed 6 data divisions for a national pharmaceutical wholesale company.  In 1992, I started my own consulting company, Innovative Systems, writing custom business software and setting up mid-frame business computer systems. I also developed a customized billing interface system designed specifically for Counseling services. I was also a South Dakota certified Law Enforcement Officer.

I now own and operate Quik Products which started as an offshoot from my patented invention, the Quik-Load. I have added Quik Response Training Institute where I am a NRA and SD State certified Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit/pistol instructor. I am also certified to teach NRA Basic Pistol, CCW and Personal Protection in the Home courses. As a Life NRA Member I am 100% pro Second Amendment and have changed a number of SD laws in favor of gun owners and protecting our Second Amendment rights.

I have been a worship leader in my church and graduated from Sioux Falls Seminary in 2020 with a Mater of Divinity Degree. I have served as a deacon in my previous 2 churches. My faith guides my morals and principles.

I have served the community in other was also. I have volunteered with Dakota Drug and Alcohol Prevention for over 25 years, offering free computer services but more importantly, as a certified prevention specialist I have served the community assisting with drug and alcohol prevention work. I have been a key player in the Celebrating Families event for the past 24 years helping coordinate the event and working it. It takes months of preparation. In this event we give away free new socks and underwear to any child who shows up for the event and we feed the families a free lunch. Arranging, preparing and serving the lunch is my 'job.'  Last year we served over a thousand people.

I have also volunteered  in the community by coaching youth football and baseball teams. I served on the Sioux River Sportsman's Club gun board for 15 years.
